How to check if a product is made in India
Check the marketplace Country of Origin field, then the Legal Metrology manufacturer name and address (not only the packer/importer), then corroborating signals such as catalog evidence. GS1 barcode prefix 890 alone is not proof of manufacture.
Step 1 — Marketplace country of origin
Amazon.in and Flipkart often show a Country of Origin field. Treat seller-declared CoO as useful but incomplete.
Step 2 — Manufacturer vs packer
An Indian packer or importer can appear on an imported product. Look for the manufacturer address when Legal Metrology declarations are present.

Verified, Partial, and Unverified summarize evidence strength. Always confirm on the retailer page before purchase.
